Need help deciding on paint or stain

Hi All in One Friends,
I need your help. I bought these chairs on Marketplace. I bought an unfinished kitchen table from a local store and want to stain the legs and table apron. Which gel stain color do you think would match closest? Also I want to paint or stain the tabletop black. Do you think paint or stain would be the most durable with 3 rowdy grandkids. Don’t want watermarks. Thanking you in advance.
