i needed to update my 2009 kitchen, and not willing to tear out granite, backsplash etc i chose to paint! i have Knotty Alder stained cabiinets. The backsplash and granite had lots of yellow tones and golds and I was trying to lighten all that up.

I cleaned cabinets with the gossier and then use the black antiquing gel and applied it with a sponge. for the backsplash I use linen paint that was water down and dry brushed it and over the stove top I use the antiquing gel around the bullnose edge and individually lightened each tile and use some rub n buff shimmer colors to give it a glitz
