I had an old 4 drawer chest dating back to early 1800’s. I agonized about whether to paint it or not. After 2 years of going back & forth, I decided to do it. I am thrilled with the finished product!

Trying some paint sample on top. Decided to use Spruce.

Removed old drawer pulls to help age chest. After researching the history of nails & the pulls, this piece comes from around 1850. Probably hand made by someone’s grandpa! I picked up at a consignment store in 1998.

During painting. I believe this is pine wood, so hard to get a really smooth finish. After following the recommended steps, ended up lightly sanding the 3rd coat with very fine paper and then waxing with a clear paste. It turned out great. I left all the imperfections. They add to the charm.

I love, love this beautiful little chest. It brightens up the whole room. I’m in love with the Spruce color!
