Brush and roll technique

I'm painting my first project, my bathroom vanity. I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong, but the brush and roll technique is leaving the sponge texture and I hate it ????. Is there a trick to this?? I don't want paint brush lines or sponge texture, just a clean pretty paint job.
