Suggestions

This is my kitchen table. The finish is compromised from 20 years of daily use. I'm thinking about using gel stain, probably Tobacco. Not sure what to do with the chairs and base. I'm a newbie having used HTP only once when painting my bedroom furniture. Any suggestions are welcome. I'm not opposed to usiing HTP on this table also.TIA!!
