Painting faux leather

I’ve painted these stools and they looked gorgeous, but started cracking after a couple of weeks. They were brand new when I painted them and I prepped with the deglosser. Originally used brush and roll. I touched them up with the true applicator and they’ve started cracking again. Has anyone had this problem?
