Should I clean my dining table & chairs with deglosser before painting them?

I cleaned my dining table & chairs, living room coffee table & end tables with Dawn dish soap and water but I remembered that I bought a large container of the deglosser in preparation to whitewash my stone wall/fireplace. Should I also use it on my wood furniture before painting those as well? I know it will be needed for the stone but will it provide a better base on my furniture too?
