Raised panel woven wicker/rattan

I’m about to start on my bedroom furniture. King bed, dresser, and two nightstands. They have raised panels of woven wicker, or rattan, and I’m not sure what to do with those areas. I considered using burlap to add a nice touch, but again, there are corners and their raised panels, so not sure if the burlap will work well on the corners. Has anyone painted anything like this? If I paint the areas in question, I don’t want the pieces to look cheap.
