This project was completed by my 12-year-old grandson Jeremiah. I was contemplating on taking this bench to the Goodwill but decided to allow him to use his creativity over the summer. And to my delight he loved the idea and went to work. I showed him a few techniques and allowed him to complete the entire project.. He did it in no time. I’m super proud of him and most of you saw his post on our HTP Facebook page and gave him so many compliments and acknowledgments that you blessed his beautiful little heart. Thank you for showing him love and helping him believe in his self he’s had quite a challenging year! So not only does his GiGi love HTP but now this 12 year old little boy loves it to. Thanks Paula and Team for making such a wonderful product and allowing so many beautiful people to come together in this community.

Jeremiah is adding his first strokes of paint

This is a picture of Jeremiah using the hand sander to smooth out the rough places on the bench before prepping to paint. I thought it would be best if he learned how to sand by hand first versus an electric sander. I wanted him to feel the wood and understand that sometimes you can over sand or not sand enough. Basically I wanted him to learn the techniques first before I gave him the somewhat easier tools to utilize. If he can grasp these techniques at this age it’ll take him a long ways throughout his journey in life.
