These pieces were done for myself (so much of what I post is for other people????). I LOVE the new Camel stain. It creates such a nice modern look for furniture!
These pieces were both a dark walnut brown. On the top of both pieces, I removed the top layer of varnish/stain. On the credenza, I found a beautiful wood grain underneath. I stained that with the HTP Camel Gel Stain. Applied with a brush and then wiped back. Once that dried, I added the White Antiquing Gel watered down 1;1 to soften the top a bit.
On the end table, the wood grain underneath the dark stain was so pretty in its natural state that all I had to do was add a little wood conditioner.
I then stained the cane on both pieces with the Camel Gel Stain. I simply brushed it on, did not wipe back, and applied 2 coats to get coverage over the really dark brown cane.
Finally, the rest of the pieces were painted in Iron Gate. I do have really cool hardware for the credenza but no telling when I'll get that put on (it's not real easy hardware to add).
Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I wanted to share how easy the Camel Gel Stain is to use over dark cane.
My phone is not cooperating with uploading the pics, so I will put more pics in comments.
