Need Ideas! TV Cabinet turned Muprhy bed

I have an old big box TV entertainment unit that I'm converting to a Murphy bed. The two side cabinets are 20" deep and the entire thing is Amish-built, solid oak. The blue carpet will be replaced with hardwood floors (pic attached). I do hate to cover all the beautiful oak, but I'm concerned about the clash between the helplessly 90's orange and my new floors, not to mention that's a whole lotta wood in the room once the murphy bed goes in. I'm looking for ideas on how to finish this. Paint? Gel stain? Some paint, but leave some wood? I am horribly color challenged, so I'd love some ideas from those better at this than me! Also happy to take ideas on what to do with the glass (which I'd like to keep, but maybe frost or something to hide contents?), as well as how to finish the front of the muphy bed panels. (I did find a place to purchase the same door fronts as what's on the cabinets, so may just go with that concept.)
