Paint or stain recommendations

I just bought a new house and these are the cabinets. Their function is really great but unfortunately the stain is in bad shape. I’ve painted cabinets before in my old house and loved the result. I’d kind of like to keep a stained look on these. Is it possible and what recommendations would you have for me.
