We installed a new wooden front door two years ago and I have been wanting to stain our garage door to match. Our door was the traditional white Builders special with faux graining . I used two cans of Tobacco and one of Provincial. For the first coat I painted with a chip brush and wiped off with a terry cloth. For the second coat I painted with a stain brush and used a dry chip brush to create faux wood grain. We had several days of rain in between coat one and two and my neighbors thought I had lost my mind! Now that they have seen the finished project they think it looks fantastic.
