Paint Laminate cabinets & update backsplash.

What can I do with these old WHITE laminated cabinets? Small kitchen!
Update look even a cute chalkboard panel on one cupboard ir end panel.
Would love dark on bottom cabinets, light on top.
Stain wood "handle" darker.
Thinking about brick pattern sponges on backsplash too.
